It has been brought to BeneFLEXHR’s attention that many employees have been misinformed by Massage Envy and other massage locations that a massage is allowed through the FSA plan. The card works at most massage locations as they have their MasterCard® or Visa® machine programmed with a medical merchant code.

A massage is considered a “dual use” expense and the participant will have to provide a letter of medical necessity from their physician for the massage to be considered an eligible expense. BeneFLEX continues to see a large increase in the number of massage expenses that we have had to deny.
